About the Publisher

Georgian Medical Journal (GMJ) is published by the Public Health Institute of Georgia (PHIG), Tbilisi, Georgia. PHIG advances evidence-based practice, quality, and patient safety through research, education, and open scientific communication.

Mission

To foster rigorous, ethical, and impactful medical scholarship relevant to Georgia and the wider region; to make knowledge openly accessible; and to support capacity-building for early-career researchers and clinicians.

Editorial Independence

GMJ’s editors make decisions independently of PHIG, sponsors, and advertisers. Editorial policy follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) principles.

Open Access & Rights

GMJ is open access under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright and grant GMJ a licence to publish.

Fees

GMJ does not charge submission fees. At present there are no article processing charges (APCs). Any future changes will be announced with clear waiver/discount policies.

Infrastructure & Preservation

  • Persistent identifiers: Crossref Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for all citable items.

  • Archiving: Deposits with community preservation services (e.g., PKP Preservation Network / LOCKSS / CLOCKSS or equivalents) and mirrored backups.

  • Interoperability: Machine-readable metadata and OAI-PMH support to facilitate indexing and discovery.
